Allied Exploration & Geotechnics Limited (AEG) has the ability to tackle any site investigation ranging from one window sampling unit on site for a single day, through to low-headroom cable percussion rigs or restricted access rotary rigs working inside buildings, to multi-rig units on larger contracts, often on heavily contaminated brown field sites and disused former industrial infrastructure. Furthermore the Company has been contracted to carry out many varied and intricate marine site investigations across the UK. Our experience and practical knowledge allows us to perform floating investigations where jack-up type platforms are impractical and accordingly, in the process, meet Client expectations.

We can offer the complete solution to site investigation works with in-house professionals and plant resources to cover everything from investigation design, conducting complex and diverse exploratory hole programmes, UKAS accredited laboratory soil testing, environmental monitoring and geotechnical/geoenvironmental reporting.

The Company employs full-time site engineering personnel who fulfil front-line geotechnical, geological and environmental roles during active schemes. At minimum all site engineers hold an industry recognised IOSH Safe Supervision of Geotechnical Sites qualification, three day first aid certification as well as a valid (in relation to their role) CSCS card. With experience they are also actively encouraged to become members of a professional organisation (e.g. Geological Society) of their choice. Full-time office engineers are involved at various levels in report production and contracting opportunities.
Services that fall outside our in-house portfolio are typically project managed and out-sourced using our extensive approved subcontractor list.

Environmental Reporting Services

Site operations are backed by strong geotechnical and environmental reporting services using gINT and other commercial software for initial deskstudies to final assessment reports.

Site Investigation Access Considerations

Early contractor involvement on difficult site investigations can make all the difference in selecting the most appropriate and cost effective approach. It is often beneficial to all parties that the technical objectives are fully understood and the correct techniques are chosen from the outset to avoid more costly duplication of the work at a later stage. Why compromise when we offer free and impartial advice which can help you tailor an investigation that is both fit-for-purpose and economical - addressing any geotechnical design risk issues and providing representative ground information that will facilitate the design process going forward.

Overwater Investigation: Drilling & Boring

Overwater investigation on the River Tyne, Newcastle using a floating pontoon platform with spud-legs for stability and anchorage. Operations included cable percussion and rotary coring, with associated sampling (CEFAS sediment analysis) and in situ testing (borehole vane, SPT). We have a long heritage and expertise relating to successfully conducting investigation operations on in-land river systems and near shore environments using cost effective pontoon platforms. Our drilling operatives are competent and fully experienced in these situations.
