Trainee Materials Technician

An opportunity has arisen to support our Construction Materials Testing business as a Trainee Materials Technician. You will be based at our Aston Clinton Laboratory in Aylesbury where you will be given the opportunity to work on some of the UKs largest projects, testing a wide range of construction materials.

Responsibilities and Activities: 

·       Testing of various construction materials e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt

·       Completion of test sheets and data entry into tablets

·       Liaise with senior members of staff on work schedules and testing schedules

·       Work within in-house QA systems

·       Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential 

·       Good communication skills both written and verbal

·       Manual handling and physical activity is a daily requirement – Samples can weigh in excess of 15kg

·       Must be confident to work in a team environment 

Desirable

·       Previous experience in a UKAS laboratory or testing environment

·       Knowledge of testing standards and processes 

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

Hours: Full time 40 hrs

Salary: Competitive  

Overtime: Rate paid at x1.25 over 40hrs Mon-Fri (x1.5 Sat & x2.0 Sun & Bank Hols)
